What is an outbreak?

An outbreak occurs when the virus migrates up to the surface of the skin. When that happens, the bodies immune system does mount an attack. The result of this action is a sore or lesion. After about 2 weeks, the virus moves back inside the body where it hides out in bundles of nerve cells and the sores and lesions will heal completely.
