HPV

How is HPV Transmitted?

Like many other STDs, HPV is often present without showing any signs or symptoms. It has been reported, for example, that nearly half of all women with HPV had no observable symptoms of the infection. Having no signs or symptoms, however, does not mean it can’t be passed to a partner or produce complications.
Genital warts are very transmissible, particularly through vaginal, anal, and (much more rarely) oral sexual contact with an infected partner. It might also be possible to transmit the virus through contact with vaginal or seminal fluids of an infected individual. About two-thirds of people who have unprotected sexual contact with someone with genital warts usually develop warts within three months of contact.
